Thanks, I found a place on this site that gives error messages and what to do. It didn't mention anything about the battery, but I will certainly check that out as well.

    CMOS problem

When I boot my computer I receive an error message that reads "cmos check sum error"
"defaults loaded". Then I have to use F1 to go to windows. Any suggestions on how to correct this?
    Thanks, Sherry

I used to get that error when my on board battery was going bad. If it's replaceable give that a shot.
