    messenger problem

    Hi folks

My friends and I use msn messenger, but I can't understand why I can send files, even exe or zip files to some of them, but to some I can't. They can all send to me, I can send to some of them no bother, but these three, their messenger will not accept any files at all. Is there something that they should configure, I have searched messenger, and can't find anything, we all use XP and messenger 6.1 your advice please.

It's probably something firewall-related. Are you guys using routers? Software firewalls like Zonealarm? Whatever the case you'll have to configure them to allow transfers through the appropriate port number. MSN help should have the specifics.

We use a mix of cable and adsl, no routers, and they close firewalls still it happens.

No bushmaster they have both newly installed on new machines, they are green, no frills just XP and messenger but messenger is acting funny, they even deleted and reinstalled it.
