    Weird $h!t

Ok, i jus reinstalled windows, did it all up and then i got to the video card installation for the new 3.10 drivers from ATi. (BTW i have a Radeon 9500 128mb) Then after that i installed an ran Rise Of Nations i was playing it for a while, then my screen turned into a bunch of torn textures, and the monitor said out of frequency. The the horizontal scan was out of working standards by 5hz, ok i say to my self and i restart the computer. I have a KT6 Delta LSR so it uses an AMI BIOS and i got 8 beeps and thanks to my trusty Maximum PC magazine i looked up the beeps and i found out that it means: inproper video card installation check video memory, replace videocard, replace motherboard. so i dunno i've tried everything right now im in windows with a 7500 PCI card and the 9500 in the AGP slot it says device cannot start i've tried hooking up another monitor so that means one monitor hooked up to each of the cards tried restarting still no responce from the card. i've also heard that the 3.10 drivers cause it to heat up alot more then previous driver versions, so really i dunno HELP!

Why did you reinstall windows? Were you having problems before this?

Does the fan turn on the video card?

Do you have another video card you can try?

Have you tried reseating the video card or at least removing it and looking at it?

Do you have another PC you can try the video card in?

Um, fooling the spell-checker doesn't fool us. Keep that **** out of the title or risk typing the whole thing over.

ok ok i understand bill, but yes i had a problem with a courrupt directory in windows which was weird too i restart my computer and bam no more windows but yes the fan does spin i put a geforce 4 cooler on there from Tt i know it didnt fit but i put it on there like ummm.... 8months ago so its not connect to the actual car itself like the stock cooler was, i do have another card in there but its not an AGP card its a PCI card so i cant really tell you if i have a burnt out AGP slot but when i set the BIOS setting to primary display to AGP it jus beeps 8 times with the card in there but when i have the PCI selected it boots fine with the two cards in there. but in the device manager i can get windows to reconize the card but it says this device has an error and cannot start, also it has a yellow exclemation point and i've tried forcing it to work so yeah im stuck im waiting to go over a friends house tomorrow and trying it in his computer

Never heard of drivers damaging hardware. But sustained refresh rates that are too high can definitely dust a graphics card and/or monitor.
