My DVD Shrink burns work in my home players but not my computer
I just began noticing that almost every DVD I've backed up with DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5 and burnt to Memorex -R discs, do not work in either of my computer DVD drives. I'm running two Liteon drives: an 811s and an LTD163D. The movies will almost always start without a problem, but as soon as it comes time to pick menu options or skip chapters, the drive begins reading, but I just end up with either a black screen or a frozen image! This happens in both drives, even the one I used to burn the image! Kind of odd, but Windows Media Player actually gets along further in a lot of titles than WinDVD4 or PowerDVD do.
All of the discs I have burnt work in my Sony 665 5 Disc carousel DVD players, both upstairs and downstairs. I'm at a complete loss as to what the problem is. Any suggestions?

Can you say, Memorex? Can you say Verbatim? or Pioneer? or any brand, even a no name brand? Anything but memorex!
Oh, make sure you burning software is set to close the disc when burning.

I've read that a lot of people have no problems with Memorex media, which is why I went with them. Would this really be causing my problems with almost every disc I've burnt (20-25)???

Yeah, it very well could be the reason. Remember, there are still compatability issues with copied DVD movies and players. I'm not saying thats definetly the answer, but it very well could be.

Johnny: But did you read my original post completely? The burned DVD's work fine in my two Sony DVD standalone players, but not in my two Liteon computer DVD drives. I ran DVD Info Pro (a great utility) on these Memorex discs and they're coming up as CMC MAG 01. I know CMC are generally junk, especially when it comes to CDR's, but on DVDRHELP.COM, the reviews it got are on par with the best out there - Ritek, Verbatim, TDK, etc.

As a matter of fact, I did read your original post. Did you read my response?
Or was that just not the answer your fishing for?

Regardless of whether or not it's the answer I was looking for, your response made me question whether you had read the original post.

As far as I'm concerned you're on your own.
Good luck to you.

Do you have any software like DVD region free running on your PC that might cause problems with DVD playback?
-
No, not running any programs like that, but I do think it's a software issue to a big degree, because at one point WinDVD and PowerDVD wouldn't do much of anything with the discs, but Windows Media Player worked fine after it automatically turned off some type of codec or other setting it mentioned. The odd thing is that my originals worked perfectly at all times, only the burns were having issues. . .
