ATI 9800XT & ABIT IC7-MAX3
Hi
I have just built a new gaming computer and I was hoping someone could give me some info.
Firstly some specs:
Windows XP SP1
P4 3.2 800MHz FSB
Zalman CNPS7000-Cu CPU Cooler
1GB Corsair TWINX-4000 DDR400 RAM
Abit IC7-MAX3 Motherboard
Ati Radeon 9800XT Video Card
Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card
Two Seagate 120G SATA hard drives running in RAID 0
Antec P160 Aluminium Case with 550W PSU
(I intend to have some FUN!!)
I have just been playing Call of Duty, when I get a video card error, (basically the game crashes) XP remains stable and running.
System temps are:
Case temp 42C (sorry dont know F)
Hard Drives temp 47C
The machine hasn't been overclocked (yet)
All the original drivers have been installed, its a stock standard machine.
Any Ideas??
Thanks

This isn’t necessarily the answer – but it maybe – you should get the latest drivers and BIOS updates for everything you have.
Start from there and see how you get on.
Man, that sounds like an awesome machine. What are the IC7-Gmax3 and ATI 9800XT like?
I have the IC7-Gmax2 and Gigabyte 9880 Pro (128MBN) and like them a lot. All under SCSI HDDs and the latest Logic LSI HBA.

OK I will try updating all the drivers and BIOS.
I really like the IC7-MAX3, very easy to install, I've never run a RAID config before and Abit board made it very easy.
As for the 9800XT, Awesome!
Thanks

That’s ok. The latest driver route is definitely your first port of call.
I’ve read that the benchmark numbers for your card are awesome.
Can you let use know how you get on. Obviously if you still have problems post again and may be we can work from first principals.
All the best,
G
