    is this possible??

my friend is talking **** about his new computer being faster than mine.

    it has a 3.0Ghz P4 with HT.

i have a 2500+ with a soyo board. the thing is that i have faster everything else (video, memory, HD).

i'm in the market for a new board, as the... Soyo Kt400 isn't living up to its advertising. imagine that.

what i need is a MOBO that i can overclock the **** out of. It would also need to support pc3200 and be able to use a 200+ mhz fsb, so that i can actually use the full speed of my memory.

i know beating a p43.0 with a 2500 is a little out there just by itself, but i'm confident that i can win with my other stuff.

we're using sisoft sandra 2004, combine performance index.

in summary, what mobo would be best for allowing me to use the full potential of my stuff? i need something really oc friendly that will support 200mhzFSB and pc3200. Try to keep it under $150.

Abit NF7-S v2.0 is one of the best. Good luck!

Direct had a great suggestion some more would be the asus a7n8x and the msi k7n2 delta both will support 200 fsb. The xp 2500 is a great overclocker and should hit xp 3200 speed's. Make sure you have high quality ram (corsair, crucial, kingston hyperx)and that you run in sync with the fsb this will produce your'e best result's. You most likely will not beat a p4 3.0 but you sure will impress the heck out of him when you dont bench that much lower than him with a cpu that is 1/3 the cost of his, and dependeing on his configuration you might beat him in some. Remember a computer is only as good as it's slowest part eg. hard drive, ram, vid card,os,and chip. His chip is faster and alway's will be but you can stive ahead in other area's and make one heck of an impression

ABIT NF7-S v2 If you have an AQZEA stepping chip before week 43 that is unlockable with an SLK-800 and a good fan, 2.4 on up is possible with a decent bit. Hell on some RARE ones 2.5 and up is possible without extreme measures in cooling

^^ I race mine against P4s all the time. Single-instance computing compared (cancer research et al.), Intel can't hold a candle to AMD.
