    Lack of Gamecube ad... Why?

I love picking out a mini magazine that show whats on sale and all that stuff at local store. I keep finding PS2 and some x-box ad in every magazine but gamecube only appear like 1 out of 100 magazine.

This include the ad from sunday newspaper.

Why? Do people really hate gamecube or something?

    Hola,

I wouldn't believe everything you read, we're upgrading this Christmas from a PS1 to whatever the kid's wanted.

Here's what I found out by getting all three gaming systems in the house for a three day weekend.

Borrowed from my buddies and took the kid's to a rental store to grab 4 games each. Let them loose all weekend. Ages are 6, 7 and 12.

To my surprise (figures since we have a pile of PS1 games and hardware) the kid's like the GameCube the best. And the reason was the games: Pikmin, Metroid Prime, Zelda and Mario Racing were big hit's.

Then I went to purchase one and was also surprised to find PS2's and GC's soldout, lot's of XBox's on the shelf though. Tried many stores and it was the same deal.

I understand this is a minor observation, but it was not what I would have expected. I figure the PS2 was going to be the easy winner, perhap's for older kid's.

Btw, on a side note the XBox kept locking up all weekend on a number of games, go figure.....

Agreed that the Gamcube is in fact popular with the little ones.. unfortunetly, they are not necessarily the biggest market for gaming consoles.. As fun as those games you stated may be for the younger crowds, it appears that Nintendo is not too good with making games for "older" crowds.. The availability of war games, sports games and other more "mature" games is much greater with the other consoles. And I know more college students with consoles than I do 6 yr olds.

And although I definetly do not believe everything that I read, I can understand that other consoles do much better with older crowds as they provide better games for said customers.

I would have to agree with FrnchDP, the PS2 as much as we want to debate about it, I think its an Adults console, they might or might not have wanted it like that, but it is now, where as the GC is for sure a kids console, again I don’t think they wanted it basset solely on children, but the lack of war and gore like games have set the GC with the Childs toy mark, needless to say I have one and I love it, but I also have the PS1 and the PS2 and the Xbox and believe it or not an ATARI 2600

I own both a PS2 and Gamecube... Let me tell you, gamecube is an awsome console. I've said before in another post, if it weren't for titles like the GranTurismo series and Metal Gear Solid, I would put the gamecube ahead of the PS2, as it stands right now, its a tie as far as which I like better. There are some VERY good games for gamecube. Although they don't have as large of a library as PS2, its a lot harder to buy a bad game for gamecube than it is for PS2... Now that its priced at 99 USD, its a great deal.

listen, I never said its a bad console if I was to say that I would be a hypocrite seems I own one, I personally don’t think its a console that "most" adults would not go out and buy, they have more kids games than adults, I like to play some kids games now like spyro and Mario and jakks, it takes me away from the constant blood and gore I normally play. The PS2 on the other hand has most of the adult games %70 %80 of the games they make are for adults not kids, and it doesn’t matter who made them, you hardly think I thought that PS made all there own games did you? it dose not matter if the GC is a good system or not, PS owns most of the market along with GC, the Xbox is only new and catching up with GC already, they do not own allot of the market but I will tell you this, that is not far behind. The GC halted production of the GC fearing a market overflow because there system was not selling as much as it should have been, where as PS2 and the Xbox we didn’t here anything about them, the GC only saw a rise in there sales when they brought there system down to 99 bucks showing a %10 increase in market sales, bottom line is the PS2 along with the Xbox sell more because they are more focused on the adult customer, as I said I never said it was a bad system Quote myself “I have one and love it” and allways will.

one more thing I loved Metal Gear Solid, that games rocks.
