Calling IP Routing experts!!! Help!!
The situation as it stands.
Lan A with Zyxel Router A and Lan B with Zyxel Router B have been hapily running a VPN for the last 6 months.
Yesterday, a Powercut on LAN A and when power is restored the VPN no longer works. We contact the Service Provider who say that the account is locked as it still thinks they're logged in so the reset their account and the internet works fine from both LANs.
However the VPN does not. Further inspection shows that Router A cannot Ping Router B and vice versa. Yet they can ping any other address on the internet.
I contact the router manufacturers and they dialed in and tested both routers and they are both fine which I totally agree with as I can VPN in and ping from a third router. Router manufacturers suggest talking to the SP to see if they have a routing issue. Having contacted Irelands best??? Eircom, a snotty student tells me that they dont have any issues with routing tables at all.
I dont want to post the actual IP addresses but they are both in the same range E.G 192.168.97.31 and 192.168.97.34 with subnets 255.255.255.255 on both
you probably have a closed port. when you lost power the settings wasn't save and where lost. i'm not sure what port it would be but just call Zyxel support and i'm sure they will work with you. They always been good helping us here at work.
Are you still out there? Its nice to get free help from others but we should share on how we make out. It could help others.
