    Smile AMD K6-2+/500 ACZ upgrade

good evening. here's the thing people. I got my very first help here on an older machine, older than the old ones i usually work on lol

recapping : it's a p5mvp3 mobo, with a lucky tech bios chip. i had made this pc (using a amd k6-2 350AFR about a month and some ago) for the coolest little 7yr old boy on my block. he's always looking out for my 5 yr old and .. he's just the kind of kid that people like.

his dad called me today all happy, telling me he has a much faster cpu and that he'd want me to do the swap. i agreed, and i've been messing with this thing for three hours. it's a AMD K6-2+/500 ACZ, and i thought i'd just pop it in instead of the old one and i'd be done. not the case.

-boots fine, but shows me the craziest values on post, for the mhz. anywhere from 40mhz to 60mhz ) what the hell ? am i missing the best multiplier/fsb setting? i've raised the voltage to 2.2, afraid to go any higher just yet, and don't see a reason to. these run on 2V. is this a bios issue ?

this is from the manual : "Specification
 VIA Apllo VP3/MVP3 dual Design AGP/PCIset chipset
 Intel Pentium Processor , Pentium Processor with MMX
    technology , AMD K5/K6 , Cyrix 6x86L/6x86MX & idt C6
operating at 120~500MHZ with 321 ZIF socket 7 provides
scalability to accept faster Processors in the future .
    "

help, i'm attaching the manual again

You'd probably need to flash the bios so that the motherboard can properly recognize the CPU microcode.

    K6-2 350
    321 pins
    350MHz (100x3.5)
    2.2v/3.3v split

    K6-2 500
    321 pins
    500MHz (100x5.0)
    2.2v/3.3v split

The mobile versions use the 2.0/3.3v split.

    MK hit it right on!

You are running an out of date BIOS and it needs to be flash updated to a newer version. Each update adds more CPUs that are supported along with other "fixes".

    AMD K6 2/500 ACZ upgrade

the intel version will be on monday or tuesday so you dont have to wait very long

this way i can make ppf for just the amd version
or make ppf for just the intel version

    makes it easier for me
and in the long run will make it easier for the scene

My associate and I really loved studying this blog put up, I was just itching to know do you trade featured posts? I'm all the time trying to find somebody to make trades with and merely thought I might ask.
