    some laptops made with desktop cpu
    (alienware.com) some not how to know wich laptop made with desktop or mobile cpu ?

    these are made by desktop or mobile cpu??

    ieee-1394 port is same as firewire ???
    (my soundcard req. a 6 pole firewire port)
    is this would work??

    can i get a firewire 800 hi speed connector in ii pcmcia card?

    if the specs sad :"dvd-r/rw" than the device only dvd or cd-r

    Visit the laptops' manufacturers' sites for the specs that should indicate whether a desktop or mobile processor is used. If not there should be contact info.

    IEEE 1394 is FireWire. I haven't seen a FireWire PCMCIA card. or any PC card that has ports. Try looking for a FireWire hub.

    As far as I know, a DVD-R/RW drive can usually only read ordinary CDs and CD-R disks and DVD-ROM disks, but can only record to DVD-R/RW disks.

    If the manufacturer's site doesn't provide the specs, which it should, look up the reviews for a particular drive by using Google.com.
