    Registry handle in ATIPOLL failed???

My son is running Win2k and using ATI Rage Pro graphics card.
After a motherboard problem was resolved now my son gets the following message on bootup: a box pops up and says "Failed to open registry handle in atipoll" with an OK button. When you click on the button (or not) everything seems to work just fine. No graphics problems at all. Any ideas?

Uninstall and reinstall the ATi drivers. Get the latest ones.

I assume that it's not the Rage 128 Pro. If it is, you need these:

If he has his CD could he just uninstall the ATI software and re-install from the CD? Would he have to reboot first after uninstall before reinstalling the drivers again?

Just a thought...could it be that for some reason (only the computer gods would know for sure) that is ATIPOLL service has been turned back on either automatic or manual in Services. If so, would it be eaiser just to disable it again? And would that fix the error message and thus the problem?
