Ability to set user permissions gone

Now its been a while since i last did any network related stuff, but ive just gone to set a new machine up with mine here and for some reason either a) i cant access the folder permissions on either machine, or most likely b) i've forgotten how to access em.

Anyone point me the right way ?

    Cheers

What OS are you running? Did you format in NTFS?

    Aha!

Security tab missing in XP If your hard drive is formatted NTFS, you can set permissions on files if you right-click file and choose properties. If your XP workstation is standalone or part of a workgroup, the security tab will be hidden. To have it show,
    Open Windows Explorer
Choose Folder Options from the Tools menu
On the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings
Clear the check box next to "Use Simple File Sharing."
Click OK to apply the change

Thanks for your tiem though Midknyte, sorted now mate

dont you need full admin rights to set user permissions? Not that Jakk wouldnt know that already, but it might help some random noob with the same problem.

cant you also set folder view options just by opening any random folder and going to Tools->Folder Options->View ?

go, "computer management>local users and groups>users" double-click your account name, choose the "member of" tab then "add ...", select "advanced>find now" one by one add each profile to your user name!

You should now have the power of Bill, ...With your new Superpowers you can remove individuals' permissions this way too!

darn, that took so long to write out, there were 4 replies in the meantime.

Huh?(I wanted to say wtf) Jakk answering his own question? That is ****. (I wanted to say BS). Do the sysopt forum rules allows posters to answer their own question? Maybe those rules need to be revised

Why keep other people in suspense when you know the answer?
