Ability to set user permissions gone
Now its been a while since i last did any network related stuff, but ive just gone to set a new machine up with mine here and for some reason either a) i cant access the folder permissions on either machine, or most likely b) i've forgotten how to access em.
Anyone point me the right way ?
Cheers

so when you right click on the folder, it doesn't have the sharing or security tabs?
-
I get the 'sharing' tab but nothing else
I dont suppose any servies ive disabled coudl have caused this, then again bar the messenger service i dont think ive stopped anything on the new machine

Aha!
Security tab missing in XP If your hard drive is formatted NTFS, you can set permissions on files if you right-click file and choose properties. If your XP workstation is standalone or part of a workgroup, the security tab will be hidden. To have it show,
Open Windows Explorer
Choose Folder Options from the Tools menu
On the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings
Clear the check box next to "Use Simple File Sharing."
Click OK to apply the change
Thanks for your tiem though Midknyte, sorted now mate

dont you need full admin rights to set user permissions? Not that Jakk wouldnt know that already, but it might help some random noob with the same problem.

cant you also set folder view options just by opening any random folder and going to Tools->Folder Options->View ?

My next thing was to tell you to clear the simple file sharing check box. oh well. you figured it out on your own.
