    Howto cut files in half.

I have managed to download the lastest version Everquest. A deal that I got through my isp.

Due to my 2 year EQ addiction I would like to burnt he file and give it to a friend. The file is a 1.2 gig exe.

I thought at one time that I could use winzip, but I could not find the functionality in it to do this.

    Is there any other way?

The problem is there are free splitters available like

    http://www.spadixbd.com/freetools/

this one looks ok to me in the version history it says doesnot support files > 4GB..hmm-->http://space.dolphin.free.fr/Windows/split.html

    and then some sharewares.

    http://www.go2share.net/file-split/

The free one's have useless restriction like cannot split files greater than 650 mb and stuff like that.

if that executable of yours is a self extractable one then it may have some directories inside. If yes, then try burning 2 cd's put some of them on the first and others on the second and when you are at your friends house merge them, i mean copy them to a single folder. ...i hope you get me.

Yep, I recieved a key with the DL. I do not think it would be illegal? My friend does pay for the monthly EQ. I would assume that it would be like buying upgrade cd to whatever extra worlds there are added and just keeping it on his same account.

I believe they do check keys to make sure that it not used twice.

I do not think it would be illegal, but anything is possiable. I would think it would be the same thing if I bought it in a store and gave it too him.

    Fine.

Try unzipping as Swordfish suggested and distributing the files to two folders. The way WinZip works for spanning is that you add the large file to a new archive and place the archive on the CDR drive (you need a CDRW for this). When the first CD fills up, you are prompted for another CD.

Cool. Thanks swordfish I will give those a try.

When the first CD fills up, you are prompted for another CD.
Going to give that one a go.
