ATi driver 'optimisations'??
Well I sould not be suprised if they were cheating, although the artical does not really give absolute proof. I like the artical especially the animated gifs makes it easy to see the difference.
They are cheating, but the IQ compromises aren't nearly as bad as nvidia's have been. Also a game developer doesn't have to optimize the game for their cards, just has to pretty much program by Direct X standards, that isn't so for nvidia. I've seen some IQ loss comparing pics when nvidia was under the microscope, but it was only one texture (x2) that was badly AA'ed compared to nearly the whole screen for nvidia.
Well, certainly some things aren't being rendered, but we don't know if these are simply bugs or intentional path skips.
We'll have to wait and see. But remember, ATi has pretty much been as bad as nVidia; not this year, but twice in the past with two Radeon releases. The moral of the story is that nobody with ulterior motives can be trusted these days
quiet right, cV.
Besides there is further tests been done on Aquamark.
Further AquaMark 3 analysis
