I think you need some different options in your poll. Best game to date would mean best game of all time (did you mean game of the year?) which I don't think anyone could argue for. Worst game ever is the same thing, ever play ET the Extraterrestrial for Atari?

It's definately a real good game though. Using a common rating system...

    Gameplay: 9
    Graphics: 8
    Sound: 9
    Tilt: 10
    Overall: 9.2

The game itself is a lot of fun, fairly easy learning curve, and a pretty good (but not overdone) story line. Graphics would be my biggest critique. It's about in line with anything else we've seen, but nothing cutting edge. The sound is great, makes me wish I had a 5.1 system to truely appreciate it. Halo is just awsome to play, its flat out fun. Had to give it a 10 on the tilt.

Halo could have passed the 9.5 mark if it had the graphics, for that we have to wait for HL2. A must buy for FPS fans.

Haha true, but its not *that* bad. Still runs smooth as hell on many systems, but you do need some serious power. I think most people are reluctant to turn off the eye candy.

yeah, it does have a lot of eye candy, especially if you are running a 9600pro or better.

Ok thats what I thought. Might have considered that option if I was sure. You still mean worst game of all time?

What other good games came out this year...? WC3 The frozen throne was pretty good, but couldnt give an expantion a best game of the year title (unless it was totaly re-made, which it wasent) SWG was alright, but a bit dumbed down for a MMORPG. What else is up there?

did u mean WC3: Reign of Chaos? i loved ROC, i never really did bother to go out and buy the expansion. 39.99 for a couple new heroes but the same game? i dont think so, waste of money if u asked me.

halo, that games great i just beat the single player yesterday and dang is that addicting. i probably get around 30-40+ frames with everything turned on, but when u see a big crowd of bad guys i get a tad of a slowdown all in all tho i love halo its fun, but the lag on the multiplayer sucks

RoC didnt come out in 2003

By the time TFT came out I was mostly just playing Multiplayer, the new heros were fun, maps were about the same. There was a whole new single player campaign, so it wasent just three heros. Still dont think it would be a game of the year though.

Halo is an awsome game, and from what games I can remember, its the best of the year so far. But HL2 would need to get a push back if it wants that title.

I just got this game yesterday and I must say I'm not that impressed with it. The graphics aren't that good, the sound is ok, the story line is bad. Why does everyone rave about this game?
I could see thinking it was good playing it on a console because they're isn't much competition in the fps market for consoles, but for pc? This game doesn't even compare to some of the other more recent titles out there. And whats with the huge aiming circle? I guess on console when you played, you needed it to be fast aiming with a joystick, but with a mouse? They should have made it a little smaller.

I wish I would have saved my $70 fro a few more weeks for max payne 2. Oh well, I'll trade it in, in two weeks for a decent game!

I have been playing Halo for the past few days. Just beat it Sunday. I founs it to be a great game. I think i run at about 50-70 FPS usually and i neevr really get any lag even if there is a bunch of badies. Only time I experience any delay time is loading on certain missions but nothing more then about 5 to 10 seconds tops. Halo online is awesome. If they get out the dedicated server device soon it wll own. Right now the only problem is the servers are being run off computer that have someone playing on it. So really laggy with more then about 5 or 6 people.

    FYI
I have a AMD Athalon X 2100 with a radeon 9700 vid card running in 8X agp. 512 mem. Gigabyte 7VAX mother board.

    Examples?

And whats with the huge aiming circle?
The aiming mechanism more shows the pattern of the bullets. The assult rifle will miss most rounds from any sort of a distance, stand from a wall and look at the bullet spread. Therefor the circle is large. Grab a sniper rifle and the circle is tiny, because its extremely accurate. Pistol is inbetween.

Some games have reticules that change with your motion (Ghost Recon) but a game like halo wouldnt work that way. Its more of an active FPS then a sniper.

What complaints could you possibly have about the sounds in Halo?

I wish I would have saved my $70 fro a few more weeks for max payne 2.
I would be pissed if I got taken for $70 too

My system more than handles playing this game, I just don't think it's that good compared to other recent titles i.e Chaser, S.T-Eliteforce2, Vietcong to name a few. I'm gonna play it through because I payed for it, and I'm sure thier will be parts of it that thrill me, but first impression is not so good.

Halo's single player mode is very addictive. I played it straight thru for about 10hrs until I finished it. Real fun, and pretty descent story line. Seemed like a few levels were cut & paste of the previous levels. I say that because it looked like you were going thru the same halways and rooms over and over. But it definetly is worth the $40 I paid for it at Best Buy. I can't take Multi-Player on Halo seriously. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty fun with all the jeeps and banshees. I just think that it isn't quite up to par with Q3 based games.

As far as hardware requirments go, Halo runs like **** on my PC. Normal game settings for me are 1280x1024, 6xFSAA, 16AA. With Halo, I got 20FPS with above settings. I had to back down to 1024x768 with 0 FSAA and 16AA. Then I got between 40-80fps.

I think the game engine must be poorly coded. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Halo using DirectX 8 technology designed for the XBOX which is a Pentium3 750 and a GF3 erra GPU?

    My specs are
    XP2000+
    ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe NF2 Ultra 400
    512MB Dual Channel DDR 400
    Tyan G9700-ProM at 370/680
    nVIDIA SoundStorm
