Lockup when trying to look at shared folders

I have several home computers, running WinXP Pro or WinXP MCE.
Whenever I go to My Network Places to move files or folders or whatever, I can see all of the computers. The problem is whenever I try to open a shared folder on any of the computers, the computer I am using freezes up, the banner reads "Not responding" and then shuts down explorer.
    Any ideas?

more details needed. are you using the same usernames and passwords on all computers? are all systems in the same workgroup? can you ping each of the computers?

I had a similar problem between 2 machines, drop the network down to a couple of machines and work on process of elimination, with luck it's only one machine causing the grief.
It may be worthwhile removing the network components (software) and re-installing, again start with just a couple of rigs check it works and add the next. I found that using the XP network wizard caused more hassle so used manual install methods
