    xp headache

I switched on my pc to find it goes to the menu where you have options like restart normally, start in safe mode ect ect.
Whichever one I choose it goes back to the menu again and again and again.

    Can you help? any ideas/

    Thanks

You most likely have a driver problem or installed software that is not XP compatible.

You should repair your XP install.

Boot off the CD and select the option to repair when you get to it.

Is your BIOS set to boot from CD First, then the floppy or hard disk drive?

You should get a message that says "Press Any Key to Boot from CD...."

If you do not get the message your CD ROM is not trying to boot. You only have a few seconds before you boot to the HArd Disk or floppy - which ever is next in the BIOS for boot order.

If this is the first time for an XP repair, here is a tip: You will first come to an option that offers you a chance to repair using the Repair Console. DON'T take that option. (It is for experts only.) Continue as if you are doing a fresh install. Once the installer "inspects" your drive, it wil see the original version and offer a change to repair it. THAT is the option you want.

Yes. The upgrade disc will function just the same as the non-upgrade version. (BTW - you can use the upgrade version to do a clean install. You simply have to "show" it a Win 98 CD when it asks to see it.)

The diference between me and a computer is
"you only have to punch the computer once to get the information in"

    Thanks
