    major resolution prob.....

I didn't have any problems with my resolutions till now.
I got mcafee's firewall and when I start games with it for the first time. A window pops up to tell me that this program is trying to access the internet and ask what I should do....
Well I tell it what to do and move on.. but now my resolutions all ****ed up...
Like the refreash rate and everything is off that the monitor doesn't even know what the resolution should be..
I can tell cause of the imformation thing in my monitor menu...
    My desktop res is fine...
but I thought if I restart the game it should fix... Nope...
I even changed the reso in the game and exited and go back in ..... nothing... I don't knwo what to do?
I hope I don't have to reinstall all these games..
I hope I just have to maybe install my video drivers again..
If thats the case will I have to reinstall everytime I play a new game with my firewall on?

*sigh* my pc probs are never ending...

    Try :
    1. Completely uninstalling the videocard drivers
    2. Running NFR, even from Safe Mode if some files can't be removed normally
    3. Reinstalling latest Catalyst drivers, or ones which worked well for you
    4. Good luck

Every time you start a new game....does the firewall messgae come up...?
If so...there must be a way of accessing what programs access the net manually thorugh the firewall options. I use ZoneAlarm Pro ...and this has a similar thing. You must go into firewall options...and set this program manually to access or not access the net permanantly. This hsould stop the box popping up..and the change in resolution. That is the way I have to do it,

    Hope this helps

    Hey bblqj78

yeah there is a way to do that and I did..
so a box doesn't pop up anymore but for all the games that had that box pop up it doesn't remember the resoloution set in that game....

I'll go into the game and go into the options..
It will say that game is set at 1024 but yet its not..
I'm honestly believing that there is something in the registry or something I'm missing.
    I don't understand..
As long as I uninstall the drivers and reinstall them it should fix them....
I don't knwo what else to do.. I really don't want to format just cause of this.. *sigh*

Not sure whats causing this problem. Now that you have sorted out what programs access the net and not....if it was me...I would do a system restore back to before you had this problem (are u using Windows XP)....make sure ur firewall setting were set properly so that box dont come up...and try again. If you can...give it a try.

    apart from that...
