    nice avatar....

so i'm surfing the forums and i see all these people with nice avatars, and i wonder, why can't i be one of those people? So i go and create the one i have now, aren't you all proud of me???

Just curious about what are some good programs to use for creating these avatars...maybe something to make animated gif's so i could have a dancing stick figure like DocEvi1 except instead of doing the hokey-pokey my guy would be breakdancing!

I believe most use Paint Shop Pro, and if its to be animated, PSP also has an extra part to it called Animation Shop. Images are created or modified frame by frame to make it "move" when run.. I'm not very good at it myself, but there are a few here that can get you squared away pretty fast..it will take some time and patience. The current version out right now is ver. 8.0, but 7 and even 6 is good..and you can pick up a copy of ver 6 for maybe $20 bucks...ver 8 will set you back probably about $60 bucks +/- a few.

Well, I just sorta play with PSP some. The crest came from a website that offers several different versions, with your family name on the lower bar under the crest image. All I did here was paint out the surname that came with it, then added Bovon..but by the time I resized it to 64 pixels, the name Bovon could not be read..so, I did away with the name bar and just made the name Bovon in blue 64 pixels wide..which is now readable when the whole thing is resized down to 64 pixels. I'm not quite satisfied with it yet, and may remake it again.

PSP is not too difficult to learn..it would have been good to have had a help or how-too booklet...but I didn't have one, so its just been try this...try that. I see at ebay such how-too books and Cd's are offered.. I kinda think I will get one.. I have version 6, and have been thinking about upgrading to version 8..and if I get the retail application, it may come with the CD and how too help manual's.

In addition to making, modifying and creating images, PSP is also a good application to use with a digital camera..as are Photoshop ($400 bucks +/-) or PhotoshopElements, same Adobe company that puts out Photoshop... so..PSP is cheaper, but does about all I need..much the same as Photoshop, but not as comprehensive as Photoshop...that application is for those well heeled ppl who want the best.

BTW, a burger king logo and an athlon xp 2700 would be cool!!

I use Adobe Photoshop 6, Adobe Illustrator 9, and Adobe Image Ready 3 to make my animate pictures. Used AP and IR to make this one.
