Reinstall XP Home or upgrade to XP Pro

I have a Sony Vaio computer, That in order to reinstall I have to use their recovery cd. I have an XP pro upgrade cd. My problem is I am having problems with office xp that reinstall of office can't fix and now I am having problems with Microsoft Picture it. Would I be better to use my sony cd or should I just upgrade to XP Pro? Or can I put in the XP Pro cd and do a repair? I know with both options I will have to reformat the c: drive. I don't have personal files on my c: drive so that is not a problem. I just wish I wouldn't have to keep doing this. When I got my Geforce 4 card I had to use my sony cd just to get the card to work.
    Thanks

Pro is the same as Home and won't fix anything. You should restore.

doing an upgrade won't fix application problems. do the restore, then you can do an upgrade after that.

    Office XP update!

I would also go to the Microsoft Office Update page to download any updates available to enhance the stability of Office XP. It's all automatic and should not take much time at all.

    Try this link: http://office.microsoft.com/ProductUpdates/default.aspx
