how to make my IP address pingable

I can't ping my IP address from other locations. traceroutes also can't ping my IP address. How can I make myself pingable? I'm running windows xp pro. I'm connected through comcast hsi with a motorola sb5100. I'm not going through a router. I have two firewalls running, but this has been happening before I installed the firewalls.

You probably have the native XP firewall running. Look in the properties for your LAN connection and then in the properties of TCP/IP there.

I'm curious as to why someone running 2 (and possibly three) firewalls would suddenly want to have his IP address jump up and say Hi!
