VBE6.DLL
When I try to load Win Word I get a pop up:
'Winword has caused a error in VBE6.DLL...'.
I shut down and rebooted, as recommended--nuttin. I used the repair function in my Office 2000 CD, again--nuttin.
I could find only one reference to VBE6.DLL in this forum and it did not apply to my problem. I would appreciate help.
Thanks,
mooseluk

rangeral,
That hyper link you posted leads into the problem specifically and I found my answer. I had to delete 'wfword2k.dot', the templates for Win Fax. It took awhile to locate the cure, I found it in the Symantec knowledge base--about the sixth time I searched. For some reason it came up on a search phrase that I had used several times before that had drawn a blank. I tried just about every suggestion contained in those links. Looks good now.
thanks,

dave-harper,
The MS kb316033 told me what the problem was. The only problem, for everything it said to do I got a negative response from my computer, such as: '...cannot delete file may be in use...', '...cannot rename vbe6.dll: access denied...file may be in use.' and so on. I had to uninstall/reinstall Win Fax before I could do any of the tasks called out. Until I did that I was just wiz'n in the wind.
I did not get an email notice of you posting and I don't know how to address these things to individuals. Hope you pass by and see this.
thanks,
mooseluk

Glad you got it fixed, starting up in safe mode would kill processes you can't deal with in normal windows. Fax and norton seemed the first issues to check.
