    huh ?!

if it has no extension then it's not a zip

if you see a zip icon, then it must have a zip extension, or it's just an ejecutable

sounds like you have NOT enabled the show extension option
    and show hidden files
and do not show system files

Same place. Let me Re-Phrase that. It is a zip file Im just getting no file found. Again it could be the computer.
My opinion after using XpPro. It really is a bloated OS which matches Microsofts Egos and Pocket books! Im seriously thinking about Linux for my Audio.

The 3.0 ver. is a .iso file thats zipped for D/L. Unless you want to fuss with the .iso , just D/L the 2.9 ver instead. Right click the file , select Extract All,extract it where you want, then open the Folder were extracted and click on "install.bat".The install program will prompt you for the floppy drive and also prompt you to insert a blank floppy. To run Memtest86 leave the floppy in the drive and reboot.
There is a readme file with instructions. I always run all 11 tests (extented test) , but the first 7 should be enough for your immediate needs. 1 pass without errors is all you need to run.

Ive unzipped both versions and clicked on install then its a quick flash of a dos box and its gone. Doesnt ask to insert disk. Is there another program I can download straight to a floppy?

No. It wont work without "install.bat" .
I just gave v2.9 a go on my XP pc , and it works fine. You cannot view the contents of the floppy after the install, btw. Are you attempting this on the troubled pc or another? You could remedy all this by trying another stick of ram (borrowed or bought) .

There are other testers but I haven't used any . Perhaps someone else can suggest one they have tried and trust .

    another stick of ram
Its RD-ram and It needs dummy sticks which I dont have. I live in the country and I would have to hunt down some dummys. Which wouldnt take long in my neck of the woods!
Yes I tried Memtest on the bad PC.
I found another program that Ill be running tonight.
Is there a Cpu temp program also? I guess I should check that even though its not overclocked.
    Thanks!!

Thanks Rocket! I downloaded speedfan and have run it. The temeratures are showing anywhere between 100 to 120 Fh. Is this good? This is a P4 2Ghz.
I ran the other Mem tester last night for about 20 minutes till it froze up. What it did run though showed no errors..
Im going to run it some more now.
Thanks for all the help so far guys!

Ok Ive been running the mem test for over two hours and no errors.http://hcidesign.com/memtest/
I assume this program will do. Ive also had the computer on now for about 4 hrs and have been on the Net and no freezeup yet. But Im sure its comming.
If the Ram checks and the temperature checks I guess its time for the Repair/Install. Hopefully that will work. I do need to know if 120deg Fh is OK though.
Im curious about the Restore points. I deleted a recording program and when I did a Restore point back in time the program was there. I didnt try to record with it though. Does XP keep these programs on the Disk?
    Thanks again for any help!!

    I would go for the Repair/Install .
