what would make my screen all "wiggly" when i maximize a white window

    ok
im not sure if this is my video card or my monitor but
whenever i have anything open that is fairly large in size or maximized my screen gets all wiggly on the sides
i have a MAG innovision monitor 19'' and im running 1600x1200

and a gforce 4 mx 440 128 meg video card
i thought that maybe it was doing that because the card had gotten loose or something so i pressed it in tighter and that seemed to fix the problem but now this morning its back again so maybe thats not the case...

    any ideas?
oh and btw if i load a page that is not white, any color grey black green whatever
    it is just fine....

    Low refresh rate

    and

MAGNETIC interference from nearby electronic stuff

and in very very odd cases, the monitor is simply bad

Low refresh rate makes it flicker, not wiggle. Magnetic interference makes it wiggle all the time.

When the geometry changes with the brightness of the displayed picture, then the prime suspect is the monitor's own power supply. If it's just started doing that, it's probably on its way out - and if it's always been like this, then you've been some $20 too cheap on the monitor.

Thats good advice from AllGamer, and correct.

One thing you mentioned made me recall something that happened here one time. An AGP video card is sometimes difficult to keep seated at the rear because of the very fine...and off-set type connectors on the card as well as the socket. Just a little bit out of the socket at the rear will cause all sorts of video problems. Try this...remove the hold down screw for the video card...press the card down into the socket front and rear. Now, look to see that the metal flange where the screw goes is still sitting flat down on the case rear where it is attached. It absolutely must be like that. If when the screw is applied, it has to pull that flange down some, it will raise the rear of the card up from the socket a little bit...which the card cannot stand because of the way the contacts are made.

It also helps to remove all cards every so often and clean the contacts. I use a pencil eraser myself and after cleaning, I use a damp (with alcohol) cloth to wipe any residue from the card.

    yeah

it must be getting pulled out just a little bit by the screw
because i logged on in linux which i just got and have not installed the current nvidia drivers and i dont have this problem

so im geussing once i get the drivers installed the problem will come up in linux too

anyone want to offer any help on installing the newest nvidia drivers for suse 8.2

i am fairly unexperience in linux

i read that i need to install an different kernel
    well it says this

    "II. SuSE Linux Desktop (SLD)
SuSE Linux 8.2 with update kernel or self-compiled kernel
    -------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Kernel sources must be installed and configured. Usually this means
installing the 'kernel-source' RPM with YaST2 and configure it then
    with the following commands:

    cp /boot/vmlinuz.config /usr/src/linux/.config
    cp /boot/vmlinuz.version.h /usr/src/linux/include/linux
    cp /boot/vmlinuz.autoconf.h /usr/src/linux/include/linux
    cd /usr/src/linux
    make cloneconfig dep

    2) Use the nvidia installer.

    3) Enable 3D support with SaX2."

i cannot find or do not know how to install the 'kernel-source' RPM ....
