    Asus PC Probe problem

On Asus PC Probe, i can neither switch on software cooling, or control the fan.

My MB manual is here: ftp://www.asus.it/pub/ASUS/mb/sock47...1133_p4g8x.pdf

Look at the section for PC Probe and it says that you can control the fan and use software cooling.

I have an Asus Socket A nForce2 mainboard which has a feature called "Q-Fan". The feature must be enabled in BIOS.

Ahah! but you both missed somthing. While qfan is USED the fan must be plugged into the (PSU) header I think. Or its the case one. Look in manual under qfan as thats where I read it. Either way you dont use the cpu fan header for cpu fan when useing qfan control! Weird!

When Q-FAN is enabled in bios it tells you to connect it to the PWR_FAN1 header. Maybe you have to connect it there because it is the only header the board can change the voltage on I assume??? Strange.

Ah, I think it bypasses the fan failure shut down thats active on the cpu header. The lowered rpm's by q-fan my drop rpm's low enuff to force a reboot-nasty.
