when you "unsubscribe" from spam email...

when you click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of spam emails, and it asks you to type in your email address and then click "remove", does it actually remove you?

or does it just sign you up for more spam?

more spam. Or it removes you from their list but sells your email to others

    the 2nd

it signs you up for more CRAPS, but it does remove you from the one you "un-subscribed"

so everytime you remove 1, you gain like 99 back

so.... you really did not "un-subscribed"

Tons more spam. It lets the spammers know it's an active e-mail account.
Thats why I sign up for anything using either a yahoo box or an excite box. Once a week I log on, select "check all", and hit the delete key till the box is empty.
Or better yet since alot of spam is harvested electronically once in awhile where they present the field to type in the e-maill address you wan't "taken" off the list I'll enter "postmaster@their e-mail address.com or .net or whatever they use.
Let them spam their providers and see what happens. And if that doesnt work you can type in sysadmin@ or support@. bound to **** somebody off someplace.

well my primary email acct.(other than my isp)..is hotmail, had it since i first got on the net 4-5 years ago

all was well ...no spam...until a relative of mine decided to put my email address on a dumb forwarded email chain letter with a hundred or so other email addresses in the CC section of the mail in plain view

then all of a sudden SPAM, nonstop

i was stupid and was clicking the "remove me links", but then realized everytime i did that i got even more spam, so i just delete 'em as they come

i used to get 100 or so junk mails a day, now it's only 20-30, hopefully it will eventually drop down to 10, then 5, then none

If everyone would just for one day forward them all to Microsoft things might get better.

Yes, It tells the spammer that your address is active and then he adds it to his Sell List.

Never answer ANY spam! If everyone would do that it would end spam.

Or you could do like I do.

    Send very threatening replys.

Make lots of references to guns and high explosives.

Tell them you're thinking about adding more ears to the necklace you started when you were in 'Nam....

I think the FBI has my phone wiretapped, but I don't get any more damned spam...

Unfortunately that kind of e-mail here in the U.S. would end up in a no-knock warrant being issued for my soon to be house guests.

I have a hotmail account for the spammers, but I think I'll forward the mail like was suggested earlier, LOL.

I also have another account, @myway.com, ZERO SPAM. None, nada. The even want you to report it if you do get any. I haven't so far

The personal account's I have from my ISP for me and my daughter have remained spamless to this date.

The only entities that have my personal e-mail are my bank, my wireless phone provider, my ISP, my satellite provider, my phone co., and select family and friends. Oh and newegg.
