thermaltake volcano series
can i ask which of these is the best performing for my Athlon XP (159x11) 1.75GHz 1.65v. Its running a coolermaster DP5 series cooler now. im getting a max of 51'C wif ambient of 28-29'C. will the volcano 7+, 9, or 11 do best?

The Volcano 7+ is the best one of the lineup. I would not recommend getting it. It is poorly made, and extremely noisy. When the fan is turned down, the performance drops sharply.
I would recommend getting a Vantec Aeroflow, or a Thermalright product such as the sk-7 or slk-800 combined with a decent 80mm fan.
This is where my signature would go if I wasn't so lazy.

.... gib's right, my volcano 7+ is very loud(in fact im shouting now) LOL, but, my 3.06 is runnin at 30-33c so i guess ( for me)its worth the inconveinence.

These are the shizit for P4 cooling now. They are almost as good as an Alpha! Really quiet, too.

Giblet is no dummy, but my 7+ keeps my 2100+ @2250 under 45C at the LOWEST setting. I also don't know what he means about it being poorly made. It is a well finished copper block with 4 screws holding the fan to the block, and a 3 lug clip. But, as they say, results vary.

i agree paul, i kinda like the way it looks, and the hold down clips are the easiest ones ive ever used. i like the fact that the whole unit from top to bottom is copper too.

tap the core 3 times with a magic wand and then don't put any cooler on... Enchanting the cpu works a treat

Dragon Orbs are horrible coolers. They make pretty good Rottwieler chewtoys though.

The volcano was good for its time but it has now passed. IT is too loud for my likeing on the highest fan setting, but it produces reasnoble temps.
