Personally I prefer looking for open boxes at best buy. I get some of the sweetest deals that way. few weeks ago I got a 52x buslink(sony) cd burner for $29. I do this all the time as I got to the local best buy once a week and work the clerks for the best discount I can get on open boxes.
Rebate sales simply $uck. you have to wait 10-12 weeks or longer to get back $$$ that you possibly may never see. In the meantime the item you bought for $200 12 weeks ago that had a $50 rebate is now being sold for $89 cash over the counter because something else bigger and better came out.

I personally don't buy anything on the premise of a rebate. Basically your loaning your hard earned $$$ interest free to a business that couldn't give a hoot about you. Then more than 1/2 the time you have to call up and sit on hold for 1-2 hours trying to find out where in the hell your rebate is. Only to be told some bullcrap line like because you used a PO box as your mailing address, you don't qualify for that rebate. And believe you me they pull that stunt all the time.
Next time walk into compUSA and ask the store manager to loan you $100 for 10-12 weeks. See how that flies.

    I agree with Aznmask,

Trying to get a rebate out of them is not worth it......

Anything with a rebate I avoid. I Got a monitor with a 60 dollar rebate at bb like a year ago. I sent out the rebate on my way home from the store. 8 weeks later I still hadn't gotten it. so I called they said give it more time waited 3 more weeks called every number I could till I found out it had expired.... LOL somehow the offer was valid when I bought it, and vaild for 2 months later, but because they still hadn't sent it out to me 11 weeks later it expired??? So now when I see rebate I just stop reading.

I deepest sympathy for all of you that have had trouble with rebates. That said, rebates rock! I will haggle and pinch every penny I can get out of a product. That, and I have yet to had trouble with rebates. Mine have all arrived within the 8 week time box.

    good rebates = yamaha BAD

I got the "175 GB hard drive for $99.99" today!!!

Im a rebate nutt, never had any problems with rebates from COMPusa, BestBuy, CircuitCity, OfficeDept, or OfficeMax.

All you have to do is keep a copy of the receipt/rebate mark down the date sent in etc. Then call up in 8weeks if you didnt get it.
I only never got 1 REBATE.

I did have to call the 800 # for a rebate on a IBM Opt mouse & also on free memorex cdrs. The mouse rebate said "Oh will send that out right away" got it in 2 weeks. Memorex said that it must have got lost in the mail, said it was sent on xxx date and told me not to cash that check #, then told me the check # of the new rebate that they were sending me. Got it in 1 week.

Now for the REBATE i NEVER GOT: Yamaha CDRW $15 called etc keep getting forwarded to help desk then an answering machine. Soon the 800 # was down. So I called them direct # ($$$) & they did the same **** saying Sally handles them = answering machine. SO DOn't trust Rebates from the YAMAHA BASTARDS!!!

I love the Yamaha CDRW over my LiteON CDRW though...

Also whoever got the Emachine's, those suck too = quality JuNk!
