Microsoft Spam XP
I have been getting very annoying pop ups in windows XP, it does not seem viral related or trojen related however one directed me to this site:
http://www.fightmessenger.com/
Now those who have seen this probably know a lot more about it but I am not going to fork out more cash to get rid of what has already been a joke on the customer. And personally I believe www.fightmessenger.com is behind the spam anyway, seems very convinient doesn't it?
Does anyone know how to get rid of this unwanted spam pop ups please let me know

Sadly the best way to do it is to reinstall... which is fine if you can back up all your stuff, but, even then you may have the virus causing the pop-ups in your files somewhere... a good thing to do is to check out a site like trend micro's site where they give you a free 'House Call' and scan yr drive, removing any viruses they find or at least informing you of them... this seems to be fairly prevalent on the net at the mo... people I have talked to have the same problem... give us a sec and I'll be back with a link... they should at least get you started...

Latest version of SpyBot 1.2... clean out the spyware, can block new popups... do after the Trend Mico "House Call" checkup verifies you are clean of virii.

Your using XP. Some of those popups could be coming threw messenger service. That is not the instant messenger service eather.
To kill off this service go. Start>settings>control panel>admin tools>services
On the screen showing now. Scroll down and find messenger. Right click>properities. Select manual on start up type.
spybot is a good program. Also get Ad-ware 6.0. What one program can't find the other one will.

I agree with Philip1952 on this one. Recently the messenger service has been very explioted, try disabling it. This has helped me to get rid of them.
Of course you can always get zone alarm or <insert favorite firewall>. The only time I ever got those messages is when I had to take zone alarm down.

Download the Ad-Aware 6.0 and run it! You'll probably find many files listed as "dataminer" those are really a spybots from the various sites that you've been to! They eventually wreak havoc on your system when they report to the originator while you're online! Symptoms are slow down on downloads and the slow access to the internet sites that your are want to go to! Nasty things that must be eliminated from your system because it would eventually cause your system to crash! Good luck.
