    CPU ok?

    I made the mistake of ordering a thouroughbred Athlon XP processor and placing it in a Palomino compatible only mobo. The CPU was obviously incompatible, but I have another computer which I can place this CPU in that IS compatible.

    I want to make sure, but since it was only an uncompatibility issue, and I had it all correctly installed and everything, the CPU is OK? I am riding on the fact that it is, but I want to double check.
    My computer is old, but it runs great!

    Check the chip for any evident physical damage, other than that its a case of putting it in the compatible board and seeing if all works well
