Need help O/C 1 GHz Celeron
Hi!
I have following configuration:
1 GHz Cel
Chaintech 6OJA3
384 Mb PC133 RAM
ASUS v8170 GeForce4 MX 440 AGP
...etc.
What I need to do to make it run od 133 MHz FSB? Is it possible? I have tried 110 MHz FSb, and so far so good . I hope it will last. I have changed memory CAS, CAS-to-RAS time and so on to 2, and 3D MARK 2001 shows 4000 Marks instead of past 3300. What next? Ideas anyone? Please reply to my e-mail: werewolf@rstel.net. Thanks!

Welcome to SysOpt!
First of all, pay attention to your system's cooling! Next, read this.

1100MHz, or where you have it right now, is about the limit for that chip, sorry dude.
I wouldn't try going over 112 and putting your system devices in jeapordy. You might be able to get about 1133 tops, at 1.8v. Even intel had problems at that speed.

??? interesting. Everyone's keep telling me about Celerons great o/c abbilities, and it shows that my is an exception. Darn .

who told you that?

old celeron are good OC like 300A@450.
but your cele is an Coppermine which max out at 1.13ghz, remember that P3 1.13 (coppermine) ever came out a while and suddenly disappear. this is because the poor intel overclock it and bump the voltage but at last it is not able to stable, so now no more P3 1.13

And what abot 1.3 and 1.4 Cel's? Are they P3 based? How they go beyond 1.13 GHz? I have seen somewhere (some benchmark program like SiSoft Sandra or 3D Mark 2001 SE) that my Cel has internal clock of 1.4 GHz max!?!? Hoax, or what? I admit that it sound more like fantasy, but...
I haven't tried so far to overclock everything, but I work with computers for more that decade now, and I think that it is time to learn at least something about it. But it seems that o/c is far less atractive than everyone is talking. It pays more to buy 300 MHz faster proc that to buy extensive cooling system (cooler, fan, case...) to support greatly o/c-ed proc.
Anyway, I am grateful to all of You for Your help at this. Everyone's opinion is important.
Once again, thank You all!

the new celer and P3 512k is base on the new tualatin core.
as u said u have 1.4ghz????? yours is tualatin????? or maybe sandra said that your mobo can support up to 1.4ghz ??? try to check your mobo manual to see if your mobo support tualatin.

If it's a coppermine-core (128kb L2 cache), it's a 733 Celey (1.6V) with voltage raised to 1.8 or so. So it's already significantly o/clked.
A tualatin-core Celey (256kb L2) could be pushed faster w/good cooling. Sandra or your BIOS screen should show the L2 size & then you know.

If sandra says that your CPU will top out at 1.4GHz, it means that the fastest CPU you can put in there will be equipped with a 14 multiplier and 100 FSB or 10.5 multiplier and 133 FSB. If that is the case, then it will accept celeron tualatins. I'd get the 1.1A tualatin celeron; that thing will go up to 1.33 and above with ease.
Before doing so, however, check to see if your motherboard has full tualatin support.
BTW - the tualatin is a .13-micron version of the coppermine core. That's why it can clock higher -- smaller trace lengths (smaller distances for transistors to switch) and less heat production.

The Celey may do more. I am running an 850mhz at 1200mhz on an Abit board and the same chip on a Soyo board at 1200mhz. Both are running 141mhz FSB wit a 8.5 multiplier. Tried a 950 chip but couldnt get it to post over 1050. I see on Overclockers .com where the 1000 goes up to about 1300 with some voltage tweaks and good cooling. My 850's are 1.75 v default and I am running them at 1.80. Both systems run very stable and very cool, about 27c at idle and 37c under load. I am not familiar with your board but study the manual and see what options you have ,then SLOWLY bring it up. Remember «COOLING IS VERY IMPORTANT»

I have a tualitin 1ghz but I am only getting 150 mhz in oc. I think it is the mobo though.
Lost 10,000 miles from home and loving it!!
