    NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!

if you go wireless dont get anything else but the Logitech MX700 cause all the other wireless only have a refresh rate of 50Hz or lower which is so slow (normal mouse 100Hz and usb 125Hz), where the MX700 has a normal usb refresh. the battery last for 2 days, recharge is quick and good. The optical sensor is the best out there and beats any ball mouse.

the drivers suck at the moment though

Intelli Mouse Explorer v3 is equally good but with wires, but its lighter then the MX700. oh the MX500 is light as well (u can remove the weight inside it)

MS IntelliMouse Optical I've had this for over a year and just love it mainly because of it's shape. (Tried many in a computer store.) It's higher, not as flat, as others as I tried. Just fits the natural curve of my hand; very stress free...for me.
I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

    I'm with Cluedo,
I've used the MS Optical for about a year (for a couple pcs). Very nice, excellent ergonomics, comfortable to use. Not expensive, either.

I use MS Intellimouse Explorer V3.0 (guess they aren't too creative with names). Choose the corded version over the cordless due to the fact that a cord doesn't bother me, so I see no need to shell out extra cash for something which will need babysitting.

Anyone know if its possible to change that red glow on the mouse to a blue glow without too much trouble? I would guess you just add a blue LED - has anyone tried it?

the MX500 and 700 have great ergonomics as well.

and as for the led, yes u can change it. u just need to know what power etc led u need to buy and solder the new one on. should work but why bother

Its a no brainer. The mx700 logitech and they fixed the driver probs, go to the site and get the 9.75 drivers loaded and you have the best mouse on the market. It is without peer//// IMHO

I doubt it would work, as the sensor is looking for changes in a certain spectrum of light, if you change the spectrum's source, then the mouse most likely won't function.

    CrazyMike,
Go to Google. Search for: Optical Mouse Blue LED

or whatever color you want. A wealth of information...and they actually sell the things already made.

Red apparently is better for illuminating a broader type of surfaces. Blue less so. (Which from my work I can understand. We have scanners that they changed and added a blue tint to the lenses to enable them to see yellow better, which they do. But they now have much more trouble seeing things that have more blue in them.)

Here is one of Google's hits for changing LED yourself

Since you asked for an OPTICAL mouse and NOT a WIRELESS OPTICAL, I'd say the Logitech MX300, it has the same optical technology as the MX500 and MX700, but it is wired. It can be used with both the left and right hand, unlike the MX500 and MX700 which are right-handed only. AND, it is only $20 (approx.). Can't beat it. MS Optical are great too, but very expensive. So, Logitech MX300... perfect.
