    My cpu/motherboard toast?!

I have a Asus A7V133-C with a 1.1ghz athlon processor, And can't figure out if my motherboard or cpu just bit the dust.

My computer was working when it froze up. And started to eminate a burning smell. I powerd it off in fear of electrical fire.

Couple of min later I tried powering it on, but it never came on. The 2 fans Spun abit and thats about it. The MB led is still comes on tho.

I tried a Diffrent case and powersupply but wit the same result. Lil spin of the fan (and stops), led comes on the mb, and nothing else.

Can't figue out what happend... had 2 fans on the cpu, and 1 stock one on the MB. There was however Tons of dust.

Need to figure out if I hafta replace my cpu or motherboard or both

ok nm I think I found the problem
I set my powersupply switch from 115V to 225 to see if that work.

Well my onboard mother board fan spun, Then sparked and crackled the started eminating smoke... Guess thats toast.

Would having a old 280W powersupply hafta do anything with this? (I mean my computer ran fine 3/4 of a year till now...)

power supplies do die. it's pretty common. make sure to use at least a 300W power supply with Athlons.

Why did you change your power supply switch? That is switching for the incoming voltage, from the wall socket. If you live in an area where the supply is 110v, you need to keep the switch to the relevant setting.
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, still exists
