    Windows xp acting up again,,,,,,,,,

Ok, I installed an updated version of creative playcenter on my computer. It asked me to restart.......so I did. When it came back before I got to the enter password screen a black screen came up and said : "<Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe has been corrupted, boot to windows start up disk and press r for recovery. Obviously I did this.....But everytime it would get to the checking systems hardware or loading the recovery console it freezes. Any ideas whats wrong?

ok I got the recovery console to finish loading, but as soon as it does, it says "ftdisk.sys is corrupted. Press any key to continue.............Setup failed. Press any key to restart your computer." - I'm lost.

Boot from the CD and run the Recovery Console there. You can also continue through the first setup screen and choose Repair.

You should start Ghosting your setup.

But thats the problem.....I can't boot from the cd! When I try to it freezes while trying to load the console, or gets to the end and says ftdisk.sys is corrupted.

XP Setup thinks you have Win2K server and software RAID. That's one pooched setup you have.

Are you sure that the CD drive didn't go bad? How about other hardware? Bad memory comes to mind:

Oh man!!! Bipolar, once again....you come along and use your black voodoo magic and voila, my comp works again. I don't understand why, but after simply clearing my cmos my computer works fine. I am most perplexed by this. I hadn't made any changes in the bios at all before this dillema occured. Well, anyways thanks again. My comp owes you one . Ps what did you mean by system ghosting?
