I am sure you do. However, a quick look at Dell's Page did give me cause to question a couple of points.

Why do they charge extra for the DVI-VGA dongle? Also why is the card shipping with a 350MHz RAMDAC instead of the 400MHz RAMDACs common to most ATI retail cards?

Having said all that your system still crushes my Athlon thoroughly, I only get 3400 odd points tops. (1800+ XP/9500 Pro/256MB)

    Agree With Rugor/Dell

    DemonExecutor

I have to agree with Rugor. Dell makes a good product, but it seems(at least with the Dell I bought a couple years back), that certain components(be it video cards, sound cards, what ever), are not the same in Dell form. I think(my opinion), they cut corners now and again. You still got what you paid for I am sure(as Dell has good prices, and what you got was a good score). --RH--

    Question For DJ

    DJ

I was wondering, how did you enable hyperthreading. Was there an option in your bios, or did your system just see it when you booted with the HT cpu in it? My mobo is HT ready, but no option in bios(even with the 1005 bios, which is for the HT cpu).

if you're thinking of overclocking go for ddr3500 or even 3700 if your motherboard can handle it.

if you have the p4 3c chip (800mhz) you should be able to take it up to 3.6 by just adjusting the fsb, and perhaps knocking the voltage up a notch. Thats assuming of course you're motherboard will let it take it that far.

does anyone know what happens if im running dual channel memory, then decide to, lets say, add 1gb of ram to a third slot - although I could in fact run two sets of dual memory config. Will it hinder the performance of the original dual channel?

    Re: Question For DJ

    Roadhog,

In the cpu section of the bios it has stats on the cpu, inc original clock and current clock, then it has a hyperthreading enable/disable option. I'm not sure whether this is a newer 865/875 option.

I need more ram, argh!!! :'(

update: after thinking about it, it's probably because your cpu doesnt support ht, so your option is perhaps disabled until you install one?

I built this computer last week. Just ran 3d Mark 2003 (latest build) with default settings on both 3d Mark and the video card.

    Score was 5612

    Pentium 2.8C
    Asus P4S800
    1 gig PC3200
    Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb
    Maxtor 80gig UATA/133

    Nothing overclocked.

    Attn: DJ/thundarr

thundarr--overclock that monster, lets see what she has. That is a good score.

DJ--Noticed something funny. I downloaded and ran the 3DMark2001SE and ran that(Posted in the 2001 section). When I cranked everything up to where I started getting artifacts in 2003, there were none in the 2001 mark. I found this a little odd?? Got any ideas?? I did pretty good with the 2001, considering I only have a 9500Pro. -RH-

hehe consider this machine only has a wee lil 9500 non pro, 64mb!!

3dmark2001 is a lot less intensive I think. the third test on 3dmark 2003 seems to be the best for seeing if there are any artefacts coming from your hardware. if there are none on that test then you should be pretty safe all round

wot score did you get? i was a touch under 15k

    3D2001SE

Score=15,237 pretty much maxed out, although I will try more, since no artifacts--RH-- DJ, go over to the 2001 forum here to post your 2001 marks. Lots of posts there. Since most nvidia cards have a tough time on the 2003, I though it may be a better compare of hardware. Nothing against nvida folks, that is all I have had up until now. Competition is good for all of us, as we will get better, faster, and cheaper cards from both companies.

also, i want to raid 2 WD360GD's which are 10k Serial ATA drives at Raid 0 on my IS7... ill keep you guys posted if i end up doing that
