    Dedicated Servers in LAN Gaming

Just wondering - I have an older Pentium 3 600 MHz system with 512 MB of RAM (windows 98). Would my LAN gaming go faster if I were to make this a dedicated gaming server, or is it still better to use the fastest machine on the LAN (even if its a player in the LAN game?) - I have an Athlon XP 2100+ with 512 MB DDR RAM as the main gaming machine.

the P3 600 with 512 MB will do just great for a Game server

throw in Win2k or WinXP to it

    but not Win98

But best of all a LINUX game server

now that is speed, and will leave most of your CPU raw power and RAM intact compared to Windoze
