    Intel experts, please read

Ok a buddy of mine saw how Tom apparently OC a p4 3ghz up over 4 ghgz with a Prometia system. So now he has ordered up a Prometia, pre-packaged in a case, and wants to get a 3g P4 and try to run it over 4 ghz. I have serious doubts about this course of action but since I am AMD man I am a bit out of touch with Intel chips at moment I really do not know. I do think a 3ghz has a multi of 23!?! Is this right?

Anyway who knows how best to procede here - what chip should he buy, the 3 g and hope for the best? Or a chip with a lower multi like the 2.53? and what is best MOBO for this deal?

    Thanks!

Kyle and Company over at HardOCP just got a P4 to 4.4 GHz and they listed all their hardware. You might want to check out that article.

Some folks in Japan have been able to get Northwoods into the 4.6GHz range, and XPs up to 3.3.

4GHz is almost expected with Prometeia.

Some 3.06 chips do it, however, and some don't. So I'd buy carefully and watch for steppings.
