black screen

I wanted to get into the bios settings and was able to get into the delete key set up screen and make changes. But when I hit f10 to save and exit it takes me to a black screen and stays there. I am unable to do anything except manually shut it down from the back panel. It will boot right up again with no problems. I also tried to go to the control h bios screen because I wanted to see if I could find out the version of the bios that this board has and it completely bypasses it and goes to the windows welcome screen. Another thing I noticed was that when I am doing something and need to restart the computer for whatever reason.... it takes forever for it to log off and restart. But if I choose to just shut it down it logs right off and shuts down.... it's only when I want to reboot it. Anyone got any suggestions as to why this may be happening??? Any help would be appreciated.

You are going to have to clear CMOS. Unplug the PC and remove the battery for a while.

Next time you boot up, you should get a "CMOS checksum error". Now's the time to copy the BIOS string (with the date) at the screen bottom.

Nancy - where did you get this system? Brand? Model?

1) Removing battery can wipe of bios setup ofcourse

2) if you only want to check up the version than carefully watch
while booting the system. it will desplay bios version. or use
any diag. tool like sandra (available free)

3) If you are not expert enough and not sure enough about any
parts don't remove or make experiment otherwise your
machiane may develop other technical faults.

4) down load sandra or fresh diagnose tools to get any
required details of your hardware mobo etc.
got mother board mfgrs. site where you can update with
latest bios version without any problem.

5) Anything and everything including - removing battery , bios
change and set up etc, or anything about mother boards can
be had from a user manual of mother board. Arrange one from
any friends.

Be Cool always, Don't get panic, there is nothing to damage within a pc- trial and error makes a person complete
