    Burning issues!

I am having problems with a mitsubishi cdrw and nero burning software.

I can sucessfully burn a cd the first time if i untick fast copy on the fly.

The second time i burn a cd (say 5 - 10mins later) the pc is slower
and even though the burn says it was sucessful it is not e.g: track 11 becomes track 1, only half the tracks burn, this causes media player to hang...

Every cd i try to burn after this is unsucessful untill i reboot the pc.

The CD-RW is a mitsubishi 48xr/40xw/12xrw and is running as a master of the secondary IDE channel

The CD-ROM - which was being used as the source is also a mitsubishi (a 52x) and is the slave of the primary IDE channel.

The cdrw has been replaced once so far.

Its the latest version of nero running on windows xp, p4 2.4ghz 512mb ram.

also how do i make fast copy on the fly work properly..

any help on these issues would be really appreciated.

    Thanks

Do a complete hard drive scan w/surface check.

    From a command prompt:

    CHKDSK C: /F /R

All data written to CD must be written to the HDD first. If the HDD is buggered, well....

The first burn could have been read from ram and passed. When you tried to read it again, it could fail if it read it from the hard drive and the harddrive was not up to the task. Bills suggestion is a good place to start.

I have a Lite-On 32-12-40 CD-RW drive that came bundled with Nero Burning Rom running on XP-Pro. The directions say to run the burner as the slave to the source drive. I have no problems burning on the fly. When I used my Abit raid board I ran the cd-rom and the burner as masters on seperate channels, that worked equally as well. This might alleviate your problem if you have that capability.
