Help I cannot connection with an Internet site suddenly
Four days ago I was suddenly unable to connect to the following Internet site: http://66.111.51.102/dvdcoverart/ . I know that it is not down nor has it changed addresses, because I've emailed the man who runs it & he told me so, plus other persons that I've contacted are able to access the site. When I try to connect I get the following familiar error message:
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.
I tried pinging the site & it times out with 4 packets sent & 4 packets lost. I'm running Windows 2000 Pro with SP3. I use Sygate Personal Firewall Pro as a firewall. My internet connection is a wideband one thru a local cable provider. I thought at first that I may have accidently restricted this site, but I can find no evidence that I have. I'm completely baffled as to why I'm unable to connect to this site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very kindly.

No change. I am still unable to connect. I tried pinging that address & all packets are lost. I tried tracert and after 2 hops the rest of the hops timed out at this address 65.42.6.29 . I'm going to call the company that supplies my internet connection tomorrow to see what kind of help they can supply. I simply don't understand why I cannot connect to that site.

Try searching for the website's name on Google, maybe somebody has a mirror out there.

Late last nite I was able to connect again. I have no clue about what kind of internet gremlin was tormenting me. Thanks for the suggestions.

I've been having the same problem with the following site.
http://nexus.mohawkc.on.ca
The last three days I cannot access it. My instructor at the college can access it. Is this really a "gremlin" or is there something I can try?
If you reply please let me know if you can access it. Thanks.

If you are on a broadband (xDSL or cable) connection, try reducing your MTU value from the normal 1492 to 1440 or 1420, reboot and then try to reach that website.
Dr TCP is a great little free utility to make this change.

Can you ping http://nexus.mohawkc.on.ca ?
What happens if you try the URL:
http://142.222.127.223/
Check your instructor's pc TCP/IP settings... see if he has manually assigned DNS servers. If so, add his DNS servers to your network settings.

I tried using the ip address. No luck. I will try the other suggestions. I should add that I have two Pc's linked on a router. Neither can access that site. This has never happened before Sunday. Thanks for your continuing help.

I just downloaded a winipcfg utility from http://www.devhood.com/tools/tool_de...px?tool_id=535
changed the DNS server and Yahoo! I can get to the site.
