Norton or McAfee anti-virus Software?

What is the best anti-virus software?

Is it one of Norton's, McAfee or something else?

AVG Anti-Virus. The Free Edition is... well, free. And good.

yes AVG AntiV is what i use along with Norton. Actually both are good.Mccafee has some kinda issue with their version 7.0 but only some users are effected and some are very happy usin it.

Personally i feel Norton is good at detectin/repairin most viruses.

but i like thier anti-viruse software dosnt seem as entrusive or power hungry as norton when i tried it.

I think Norton AV used to give free updates for life? (not sure though...!!)

I checked out NAV for new laptop, as wanted to compare with McAfee 6 which I'm using (Firewall disabled: too many conflicts / crashes); turns out latest is just 90 days update included, pay extra $5 for a year's..!! Bad news, huh..?

Nortons quite good but a bit bloated for a speed freak likeme, plus you have to pay for both that and Mcaffe', personally id go with AVG, versy small and fast and most importantly to a cheapskate like moi - its FREE!

Ive used PC-chillin and I didnt really like it. It keept on poping up on me every 5 minutes when outlook checked for new mail (set at 5 minutes) and I hated that especially when I was in the middle of playing a game!

Is AVG a good one... reliable?

P.S - I dont care about the cost, I will pay for Norton or McAfee if its not going to give me any problems and exceptionaly better than all this "free'er" stuff.

Norton here too. I used to use Mcafee back in the day and switched to norton. I have a year year upgrade with my 2003 edition just like the 2002 one.

Also look at Staples, CompUSA, or similar stores near you. I've seen a few times where they give away Norton 2003 for free with rebates.

Both Norton and Macafee have quality products. Which is best will be determined by what features you need and are important to you. You know what they say, "If you don't know where you are going....."

Yeah, I am going to go with Norton I think. Which product should I get? I am basically only concerned with protecting my computer from hackers and being able to find virus's and spyware, ect.

Yep, this is a big plus in Trend Software.

Norton Internet Security will do the job. It includes both Personal Firewall and Anti-Virus.
