    High Temps...???

Hi, installed an amd 2000+ xp on a Asus A78NX board, with a Thermalright SLK-800!!. i put on a 40 CFM fan, im running it at 1 GHZ and it posts a temp of 60.. The heatsink feels a bit warm at the base, but the rest of it is cool. now would this be a problem with the diode? or is something else wrong? ive installed numerous systems and this is the first one that has had this problem

    doenst that heat sink require a 80 x 80 x 38 medium to high flow fan ?.
Is your v-core set at default (cpu core voltage) ?.

Is the heat sink oriented over the socket properly ?.

Is the fan blowing down onto the heat sink ?.

    More Questions

What is the temps inside the case?

    What are the MB Temps?

Could be that the temps in the case are too high?

Have you tried to reseat the heastsink?

Ok this is really wierd. i installed Asus PC probe. right now my 2000+ is underclocked at 1500+. Asus PC probe shows CPU temp at 30 C, while the bios shows it at 60C. i installed it right, used arctic silver 3, right now i took off my 80 mm fan, and just put a 92m delta on it, its real ghetto, but ill fix it when i find out what the problem is

I have the same heat sink & mine too feels warm at the base.....
Thinking about it ..... If it must get warm (which it will) that would be the place you would expect it......

Have you whipped the HS off & had a look @ whats going on down there?

92mm fan is really going it some!

If it was me I would stick the 80mm unit back on.............. & leave it turned on & if need be fry it!.............. Then RMA it (after a bit of polishing)

30 degs seems low (mind you you are underclocked so could be right)

60 degs seems really high (Cook Tomatoes on that)

Check installation, Clock correctly, 80mm fan........ & wait
If It cooks I will be amazed..............

Have you down loaded MBM & checked that yet?

PS what is "Asus PC probe" ?

Asus PC probe is a program that monitors fan speeds, temperatures on CPU and motherboard. shouldnt they both use the same thermal diode? so why the F am i getting 2 very diffrent temperatures

    **checked everything
