    Raid 0+1 drive use

Let's say a computer has four hard drives. Each one is x gigs. There is a PM, PS, SM, SS. Now, how would a file be stored on the drives? Would it be split between the PM and SM, and mirrored on the PS and SS or split between the PM and PS, and mirrored on the SM and SS or something else. Does one way have better performance?

I'm not actually doing this, but it answers one of my questions and hey, it may come in handy someday. ;0

    Hi

At work, I have built several "low end" servers using the Promise FasTrak RAID IDE controller.
All the servers were configured in RAID0,1.
I tested the redundancy by disconnecting one of the 2 channels. NT booted OK.
So the config must be the following: the stripe is done with PM and PS and the mirrored stripe is on SM and SS.

I did that testing several months ago. Maybe things have changed since then.
