Yes, tis true Sirs and Madams.... I've been able to achieve 1.95GHz on air with nothing but an Al heatsink and a lot of air! (And a vmod on the 8-KHA+ to get the core up to 1.9v...)
Just installed in my dad's case... the first time this CPU has not been on water... but it's doing just fine with...
The most crazy combination 'tis... an inhell tualatin HSF with a secondary zalman 92mm fan feeding air at full speed to the nidec fan! (Case open)
41C idle
50C maxload
1.53GHz XP 1800+ TbredA @ 1.95GHz XP 2350+ (156*12.5) -- 1.9v (stable)
166*12 2.0GHz 2400+ (boots but freezes at the desktop, not a mem prob, will run @ 175 forever with lower CPU speed; a temp prob I think)
512MB 266MHz CL2.5 DDR @ 2.5, 2-2-6, 312MHz -- 2.9v
Antec 350W SmartPower PSU
64MB Ti 4200 -- not OCd yet, feel like there is an interface problem...
and 5 PCI slots filled!
Will get 3dmark2001se installed soon... the network's all f-d up so sorry for the delays
is that a challenge causticVapour????
I will see what i can do on my board with air. . as i am not running at full voltage yet (may still have to do a voltage mod to mine)
I think i am about as high as possible on FSB, but i can still multiplier it up there!
i will post again later if i decide to 1.95 my 1700+ T-Bred A
I cant hit 2 GHz without a Vmod to my board, and i dont want to drop my FSB lower than 166, so i have 11.5x 167 at the moment.
ahh well... CONGRATS on the OC!
jeez, how long do you expect the chip to last?
like 2 years? how much you can crank out of it?
id like to know what i could do, theoretically, with xp 2000+
whats the best xp to crank?
the thoroughbred or reg.
i heard 2400+ was good
