Graphic card upgraded, but help sought

I installed a GeForce2 Ti on my son’s computer (details below) this morning, after previously researching on this and other fora.
Unfortunately, he cannot play the likes of Driver, Tony Hawk 2, Phantom Menace or Alien vs Predator, which was the whole idea of the budget graphics card upgrade. (Commandos 2 and Deus Ex both work fine, however).
The Driver configuration cannot find a 3D device. DirectX says there’s no Direct3D enabled.
I’ve removed the graphic card and re-installed it.
Should I look for another driver for it – or any other potential software upgrade?

Try reinstalling DirectX 8.1.

DIrectx 9.0 is out.. FINAL VERSION NOT BETA

Try reinstall graphics drivers as well. I believe v30.82 will work fine for you

The games can't find a 3D device because the GeForce2 Ti is not a hardware 3D accelerated card. You will need at least a GeForce3 in either the regular GF3, or the GF3 Ti 200 or Ti 500 and on up. Hint: You will know you have a true hardware 3D accelerated card when you can run the Nature scene in 3DMark.

For some of those games, you may be able to run them in software emulation mode. That is, they might be able to use software to emulate the 3D characteristics. Check the settings for each game to see if there is that option.

Solution found

display properties - settings - adapter - hardware acceleration setting changed to full - Direct3D now enabled - all games working - son happy - problem resolved.

I did put on DirectX 9 as well...
