    DVD across network

Is there a way to make a dvd work ( play movies ) across the network and actually work. I shared my dvd drive and the other computers on my network can see it but it will not play movies.

if anything, you would need to install the dvd player software and then map a drive to the shared dvd drive. but don't bother. the remote systems wouldn't be able to play the dvd smoothly.

Yep DVD sucks more info than a conventional cd ratewise so it would be a pretty choppy display - all depends on your network - if your running fibre oc3 or gigabit you might get away with it - else 10/100mbps just doesnt cut the mustard.
