    Hardrive settings

Can someone explain the hardrive settings in the BIOS.

    UDMA, PIO, and all that!

And what are the best settings to have the hardrive set to?

I am finally using my Abit's HPT technolgy so I just want to make sure I am up and running correctly.

The mode you need to use with your Highpoint controller would depend on the mode that the hard disk you're using supports. If it's a newer model hard disk, you would get better performance using UMDA mode Vs. PIO mode since UDMA has a higher burst rate. PIO mode 4 is 16.7mb Vs. UDMA mode 4 which is 66.7mb and UDMA 5 is 100mb.

If your hard disk is a UDMA-33, use Mode-2, UDMA-66 drive, you'd use UDMA Mode-4 and if your hard disk is UDMA-66, use Mode-5.
