Wireless Router = No need for firewall?

I have been told many times by Netgear tech support that since I have my computers on a wireless router, I don't need a firewall running (I use ZoneAlarm Pro).

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

A router helps stop incoming attacks. A firewall (like ZoneAlarm) blocks traffic flowing both ways, both into and out of your computer. In other words, you can use ZoneAlarm to prevent unauthorized communication from your computer out onto the internet.

I dunno what that Netgear guy is smoking, but I think more is better. It's just like driving in a race car. Yeah, it's good to have a seatbelt, but it's better to have a seatbelt, helmet, HANS device, rollcage, etc.

Routers and firewalls are just speed bumps. If someone really wants to break in, they'll do it, but the firewall may give you enough time to stop them at the door. IMHO, it's better to have multiple lines of defense.
