    What is firewall?

Just went wireless on my home PC and Apple laptop...the store owner said I need Firewall....What is it? which one to buy? Can they be downloaded for free? or is it that the more you pay, the better security? It's just my home...but I do some credit card transactions.

a firewall can either be a piece of software, which resides on your personal computer, or can be a piece of software which resides on another computer which may have a different operating system, like Linux for example.

I don't know much about wireless connections, so i can't recommend which firewall to go for, but there are some great free software firewalls out there.

type in "Firewall" or something similar... also wait for other replies from more experienced people.
